Norovirus just in time for Christmas 😭

Absolutely gutted. 4 year old started vomiting yesterday evening, almost exactly 24 hours later and this evening my 1 year old has started vomiting. She managed to projectile vomit all over me (and my face 🤢) so now I'm just waiting for the inevitable vomiting to start. DH and I both gutted - it's been a tough few months and he's booked the whole Christmas period off and so far it's just been illness!! So gutted as it feels like the big day is ruined already. Sorry if I sound very dramatic, last year's Christmas was hard as I struggled postpartum and had so much guilt for my eldest and just really wanted a happy one this year 😞

I know you're right, we've nothing in mind you as we're meant to be at my sister's for Christmas dinner! Aaah bloody bugs - it's been a particularly brutal winter this year!

Yes do that. My friend did that with her dds birthday as they were moving house - under 5s are pretty hazy on exact days. As are my teens still thinking about it.

We're clinging to this at the moment! Hoping if it does start it's over quickly! It's that dread feeling of knowing you're going to be sick and just waiting for it to start!! Thank you x

Honestly OP you’ll get through it! I remember the year when my two were that age that we all had the flu so badly that none of us could get out of bed and missed the whole of Xmas day but we made up for it later on.

In the same boat OP! My husband had D&V yesterday evening. Also have a 4 year old and baby here too! DH does all the family cooking and co sleeps with 4 year old (Sen) so it seems unavoidable that at least one of us will get it too

Oh no, I'm so sorry you're in the same position too! And I'm keeping absolutely everything crossed for your family that nobody else catches anything - and if they do that it passes quickly 🙏🏼 x

I'm so sorry OP. My son got it on Christmas Eve last year and spent the entire day of Christmas vomiting.

My husband and I didn't get it despite being vomited on several times each, so there is hope. And for my son it was only a 24 hour thing. Rest lots over the next couple of days and remember, even if you have to do presents and a nice meal together a couple of days after Christmas, it will still be lovely and festive.

Oh your poor boy, that sounds awful 😞 must've been so tough for you all. Thank you for your kind message ❤️ rest is most definitely the plan these next couple of days!

There is still hope OP, both my DDs 6 and 2 have had it this week, both lasting around 24 hours. Neither me or DH caught it - may well be all better just in time!

How are you guys doing OP? We’re at 41 hours now since DH got ill and the rest of us are asymptomatic for now 😬

JH0404 · 23/12/2025 10:48

Noro only lasts 24 hours, there’s still hope for Christmas 🎄

We’re in a similar boat. Trying to work out how to hydrate toddler xx

Ah this would be lovely if true but when we had it in 2023 it was a long three days. I hope it only lasts 24 hrs

Eeek that's a good sign!! 1 year old wasn't sick again, DH and I no sickness yet 😬 but it's not quite been 24 hours yet since baby was sick - and she was almost exactly 24 hours after our 4 year old started vomiting! Both girls acting themselves just neither of them have any appetite
