BUMGENIUS reusables

Just been to a 'nappy natter' to meet other new mums using reusables. I have no outside space or drier so need something quick drying. Bumgenius came out top on recommendation. Don't mind the expense as I have a council voucher and family donations plus I'll keep them for next baba. Anyone used them yet, any feedback?

Loads of people use them!

They are one of the more reliable pocket nappies in that they are not as likely to leak as much as other pockets. I would definitely suggest you get one or two and see how you get on before buying a whole stash - they have a good resale value if you change your mind and I doubt you want to end up with 15 nappies that don't suit your babies shape.

They will dry quickly and they are easy to put on and you have the benefit of only needing one size. They are quite slim fitting too so getting clothes over the top wouldn't be a challenge like it is with some nappies.

I have heard some reports that they don't last as well as other cloth nappies so you might find you need to buy a few more for the next baby. I think the main issue was the velcro tabs not holding up to many years use - they have addressed this with the new V3, but it hasn't been out long enough to see if it will last for more than one child. Also I am always suspicious that a pocket naapy that has been used for a toddler will keep enough elasticity to successfully work with a newborn again...but it might!

Hopefully someone will come along and say they have used theirs for 3 DCs without any issues

Thanks for that BBM I only plan to use them for a year or so as we're using EC as my parents did and we were all out of nappies by 13 months so hopefully they won't get as 'worn' if you see what I mean!

ISWYM - suprised you haven't had a barrage of people saying how good they are yet!

Good luck with the EC.

I love them, would like to replace all mine with them. We use a variety of different tots bots mostly but will be leaving 10 bumgenius at the childminders house with a tub of camomile wet washable wipes. Will then collect the dirty ones the same time as DD. Sure 10 will be enough for 3 days, especially with quick washing. I think the inserts aren't so quick to dry but the main bit is. You could buy extra inserts or fold a terry into it. pocket would dry over night, insert wouldn't (on the airer) but probably would on the radiator. Also very slim fitting and colours compatible with most outfits

LookingForwardToSummer · 11/06/2008 11:46

They are great! I have 20 and five extra inserts. I use fluffles at night (now discontinued). I have found that is enough to wash every other day, v quick to dry, but maybe you would need a few more inserts (10). They are v easy to use. I haven't even opened they packet of disps I bought for 'out and about'.

I've got a couple of the V2 in my stash and think they are great. My only beef is with the way the pocket folds over. The PILs love them and they are idiot proof for DH

Would love to get more, but can't justify it at the minute

gillythekid · 11/06/2008 14:57

Do I need to specifically buy Bumgenious inserts? Haven't seen them as a separate option. I'll have 15 in the deal I'm going for plus 5 Mother-Ease with wraps, hope this'll be enough!

you obviously get the inserts with the BGs, but I use whatever comes to hand in mine, usually a fuzzibunz insert as I got given loads of them, but the BG ones seem more absorbant than the fuzzis. As long as whatever you use is flattened out well, especially across the crotch, then it'll be fine.

Liz79 · 11/06/2008 17:59

you can buy bumgenius inserts here as well as other places

BouncingTurtle · 11/06/2008 18:08

Love mine! Dry dead quick too! Make sure the pocket fold doesn't fold back up when you put it under the baba's bum!
V3 come with a newborn and big insert. Never had a poo leak - and ds is bf so has lots of runny poo!! Wee wise had them on him for 5-6 hours and no leak and kept him feeling pretty dry.

Nappyzoneneedsanewname · 11/06/2008 18:45

LOve love em - along with fuzzi and greenkds they are the most popular pocket i sell. They are def the easiest and i have made sure i now have enough for nursery as they seem them most fool proof!

MummytoWillow · 11/06/2008 21:47

I love them to!! I've got 20 of the V2's and they came with the inserts. I bought 20 boosters as well, but have never used them. They dry so quick and we very rarely get leaks, mine are pink and so adorable!

I haven't had any problems with the fasteners etc and we have been using them since DD was 12 weeks and she is 10 months now!

Buy them, you won't regret it!
