5 Month Old Sudden Fussiness

Hi All - please tell me I’m not the only one who’s been through this because I feel I’m losing my absolute mind.

My baby was in a routine from the get go because we have 2 other children who are at school and are already in bedtime routines. It was all round easier to slot her into the bedtime routine we already had in place. So naturally her bedtime and all the bedtime routine would be first being the youngest. Bottle, Cuddle, Goodnights and I Love You’s and then Bed. She would sleep then until her next bottle at 10/11pm. She also had a good middle of the day sleep around lunchtime. This last week, but especially these last 2 nights she’s been HORRIFIC to the point last night she was waking every 20 mins or so. We don’t know what’s happened but she just screams when you put her to sleep or whenever you try and put her down for a nap she’s crying. And she’s started screaming and stretching herself in a temper just before bed time almost in a tantrum way.

I normally have patience but when she’s been like it all day not napping properly and stropping and the lack of sleep at night; I don’t have patience then. And I just have to ask my husband to take over because I can feel myself getting angry and upset at it all.

Did anyone else go through this?

for reference because I know people will say in the comments… she is teething BUT she’s been teething for at least a month so don’t think its that.

thanks x

4 month sleep regression hitting late? You dont mention this so I wondered if it didn’t affect your first two so much, then it might be a shock - some babies are completely thrown for a loop in the way you describe, waking often, suddenly v angry about being put down after being ok with it before, resisting naps etc.

@Lelongducanal i didn’t experience this with my other 2 so maybe your right and im just feeling the sting because it’s something I’ve not gone through before. I had heard of sleep regression but wasn’t sure if you could get it later but I guess anything is possible. It sounds very much like it now you’ve mentioned it.

Sounds like you were lucky up to now tbh. I'm always in awe of people with good sleepers, your life as a parent must have been absolutely amazing so far.

And if he's been that good till now, it's likely he is also a good sleeper and this is just a phase to ride out. Calm down, let dad handle the other 2 kids, and you focus on baby.
