My DS is about to turn 9 and I am increasingly frustrated with his behaviour. He is incredibly silly, constantly makes noises like blowing raspberries, if you try to have a serious conversation with him he either laughing or making some stupid noise. I have to ask at least 6 times to get him to do anything, he goes through a tube of toothpaste a week as he seems to paint the bathroom with it! Despite us trying to get him to take some responsibility, like packing his own school bag 9/10 he's forgotten something. This morning he poured some blackcurrant literally down my white cupboards because he was careless and just left it, its stained the cupboards. Nothing is ever his fault and he won't accept responsibility or apologise for anything.
In comparison my 6yr old DS is far more responsible, I would trust him to do more than my 9yr old! We have no problems at school, he's doing well, popular and has a good group of friends. He does lots of extra curricular activities and we have no problems there either. I don't know if my expectations are too high, but OH is also increasingly frustrated with his behaviour. He'll be at high school in 2.5yrs and I feel like his behaviour in some respects has regressed this year. Help! Is this typical for a 9yr old? He is very tall for his age, can easily pass for 11, I wondered if it was possibly hormone related even?
