I’m so fed up

Went to get into the car the morning rats or mice have clearly come into my car and torn the car up, all ripped and bite marks over my daughter’s car seat. I feel sick I’m not really sure what to do as I don’t have the funds to buy an axkid seat again. I had to even save for that one and not even that I don’t feel comfortable ever stepping foot in there again!

also I’m worried as we was only in there last night and my daughter dropping her dummy all over and I was giving it back and I’m so paranoid that it would’ve landed on rat urine and gone back in her mouth!!!!!
should I call the gp?

Can you get a new car seat on Paypal? Off a friend who you know hasn’t been in a crash?

no eating or drinking in the car

has your child been sick? Diarrea? Etc Anything like that then call the GP. Call the GP anyway if you are worried.

This is rubbish for you but you need to think of practical ways to sort this out and prevent it happening again

are the rodents still in there? I’d be taken my car to get it checked or better yet getting someone to come and look at it. You don’t really want to be driving it if wires may have been cut

Call your car insurance and see if any of the damage is covered. Don’t worry about the dummy. Your GP will think you’re bonkers making an appointment for that. What could the GP actually do? You’re more likely to pick up a bug in the GP waiting room than off a perhaps, maybe dirty dummy.

OP this happened to me about two years ago. Rats caused about 1k of damage inside and out. My two bits of advice, unless you have a pretty new modern car which has comprehensive dashboard alert system, please take your car to be checked over- the rats had obliterated my breaking wires, appythey are coated in soya of some sort which they like to eat. My car ‘told’ me and wouldn’t let me drive it thank god.
Second, you have to be utterly obsessive about removing and food/ drink wrappers from inside the car, ideally never consume anything in the car as they smell it.
Thirdly, if the damage happened on your drive / property you will need a pest control visit, as once the rats know there is a food source they will come back.

Its not about them putting poison in your car, they will identify safe locations in or around your home to put the poison down. For us they placed boxes behind a shed, in the garage and various locations under our decking but its going to vary from place to place. I was also supplied with some spray that they instructed me to spray under the car to deter them.

I have found someone coming for Monday to look at the car and area !
