My niece is currently 3 days old. She was born with a slight blue tinge around her mouth. She is breathing fine, and her lips are normal colour. But does anyone have a clue what this could be please. My brother and his wife are first time parents so I don’t want them to panic. Please help I have included a photo

Is the midwife due to visit? Maybe get them to ask otherwise I’m sure you can access the postnatal ward midwives for 28 days after birth so that’s also an option

Do your brother and his wife know you posted her photo?

You shouldn't be looking for medical opinions for a baby that age on a forum. Contact your HV, or 111.

It could just be bruising from birth, but if baby is anyway unwell should be brought straight to hospital due to age.

Tinge or not….
She is one beautiful darling baby. ❤️

Im sure the midwives will be reassuring and helpful.

Yeah if you were my SIL I'd be furious you'd posted a picture of my baby on a public forum without permission.

Radiator981 · 18/12/2025 19:58

My gosh she is sooooooo beautiful! Please do call the hospital if you’re worried though

Diva4646 · 18/12/2025 20:29

I think they are waiting to hear from the midwife’s, but this place was my safe haven when I was pregnant! Thank you so much

For my baby it was wind! But checking it out is the best idea x

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 18/12/2025 20:45

I’m sorry you’re worried but this is an internationally accessible website. It certainly isn’t a safe haven of any description.

Diva4646 · 18/12/2025 20:54

Yes they do. And they have contacted the midwives as I explained in another comment but whilst waiting I was asking if anyone had anything similar. They were the ones who sent me the photo post. So if you have no advice or have any useful advice please skip the post and mind your business. Thanks

Lucky I’m not your SIL then isn’t it.

Where did I say I didn’t have permission. Like I have said in another comment below. If you have no advice, please don’t comment when you don’t know the full story.
