Advice whilst I wait for the GP?

My 6yo has a three day history of a viral rash, itching and a temp that hasn't been high but has fluctuated between 37.7 and 38 the last three days. I checked with the GP when the symptoms first appeared on Tuesday and she was sent home from school. Today, she felt a little better so went back to school, soon came home as she felt icky and generally unwell. Was sick once when she got back, and fell asleep straight away on the sofa. She woke up, screaming she had a headache, I gave her some paracetamol. She then for half hour was rolling on the floor, holding her head, telling me it was too much and she couldn't take it. I rang 111, who suggested to speak to the GP, I mentioned they had closed their econsults for the day, how our gp does it, so she said she'd do a referral and I should hear back. She since drifted off again in my room as its dark. My other concern is we are currently having a lot of rain, being rural our main route the doctors is flooded so we couldn't just pop there and see them if asked. Whether I should do something more urgent, than wait but equally shes sleeping, and that is probably taking her mind of the fact she feels rubbish.

I would wrap her up in a blanket and taker her to urgent care or A&E. Meningitis is a worry.

She has not long woken up, since posting this and says she feels a little bit better. She says her head still hurts, but the nap helped. She is now spiking a temp of 38.3 with meds on board, she had them about 1.5/2hrs ago.

Have you spoken to the GP yet @Sugarplum34918abd is the route to A&E clear?

I'm just taking her there now so they can see her. She has brightened up a bit. Had some food also. We can get to one of our a&e's if needed.

Have you checked the rash with a glass?

Sugarplum34918 · 18/12/2025 17:36

Yeah, it's blanching with a glass. The rash has also come and gone. She has since developed more of a rash on her face and back again. She has definitely brighted up, waiting to see the gp to see what they say

Hope things are better today, OP. Sending love x

All good, we did pop to a&e. They wanted to be safe. Pretty sure its all viral. Instead of just getting a cold like the rest of our house did, she decided a rash and other symptoms were more appropriate, bless her. At home, on the mend. Thank you!
