table corners - does anything work to protect baby from hitting head?

the thin plastic things we bought from Mothercare are absolutely crap - they keep falling off and are hardly any less sore to hit your head on than the glass. (which is thick and strong but you wouldn't want to bump your head on it.)

my niece has SN and constantly bumped her head on table corners, door frames, anything really.

My brother and SIL taped polystyrene to all the corners where she banged herself.

It didn't look very nice, but it wasn't for very long (I think they had theirs up for about a year, but with a baby without any SN it should be a matter of weeks I would think)
