Toddler has grey hairs

A year ago my DS had just turned two when I noticed a wiry grey hair at the back of his head, and today I have seen a second one. Anyone else experienced this with their very young children? (Or any paediatricians on here?).

I did look it up and seen it can be generic (not has this on either side) and vitamin related (My DS eats a really good diet), so I’m confused, and worried he’s properly going grey 😕 also feeling guilty because I was very stressed and anxious when I was pregnant and I’m questioning whether that could be the reason why!

No help, but two brothers in my daughters junior school started getting white hairs in infants. They had jet black hair and by year 6 had proper mallen streaks. Mum had similar.

My granny, mum me and then my eldest all have the Mallen streak

If they are developing a mallen streak then they hit the jackpot!

Take him to the GP next week and ask for him to be tested. The sooner you rule out anything sinister the sooner you can relax.

My 6yo has the odd white hair in different places on his head and has done for years. Didn’t think it was anything to worry about?!?

I found my dd’s first grey hair when she was a baby. She’s always had two or three. Her hair is very dark brown. She’s 21 now and has quite a few. She’s started dying it to cover them.

I’m sure everyone has the odd follicle that doesn’t work. You just notice it more on dark hair.

Could be birth marks

Tested for what?

Tested for what?

Thyroid issues (either over or under active can cause grey hairs at any age)
