Baby bottle / cup aversion reassurance

Hi ladies
my 10.5 month old has a bottle aversion since about 5 months old
I’ve been surviving on dream feeding her, few weeks ago she refused to dream feed so I couldn’t manage that way anymore. During the day I can get her to drink 90ml milk three times a day while I distract her with toys or TV otherwise she refusing completely. Last few days she has refused to drink from bottle while distracted
so im at the point now where she will not drink from bottle at all
she does not get along with any sippy cup at all. She just does not know how to use them or doesn’t like them
An open cup she gets scared of
the only cup she is doing okay with is a straw cup, where she will sip water very little but not continuously. So I can get her to sip a little bit ever so often

Seems like she is not a big liquid lover
but all I can worry about is hydration
she is quite fussy with her food but she does manage to eat enough I think

has anyone been through the same with their baby and can just reassure me she will be okay!!!

Have you read the Bottler Aversion book? Not sure if it will help you. What have the HV said?

DS1 simply refused both bottle and then sippy cup. Until his little mate was round and there were two sippy cups on the playmat and he was found cheekily drinking having nicked his playmate’s water. Deep sympathy, with us the only cure was time.

I read and I tried the theory a few times but I never really worked for my girl. She is too old now too try again as she needs the solids too
HV just keeps saying to keep up with what I’m doing. Not much help tbh

Ah that’s great! She has a twin brother who uses cup and bottle completely fine but she does not have a care in the world watching him drink 😂

How is she at eating solids?

She’s very fussy but I’m working on it ..
she does not like anything ‘big’ in her mouth or slimey. When I spoon feed her it has to be small mouthful. Or finger foods have to be eat to bite into smaller pieces or I break them off for her. Her twin brother eats anything and will stuff his mouth until he gags. Two totally different babies 😭

That does sound really difficult. If she’s refusing milk has she got any signs of CMPA and if she’s also struggling with solids, has Tongue Tie been ruled out?

I would think about contacting tge HV though and asking for her advice. If she’s showing any signs of dehydration though I would ring 111.

Cow’s Milk Allergy

Cow’s milk allergy is an abnormal response by the body’s immune system in which proteins in a food are recognised as a potential threat.
