Just want some opinions my little girl is 3, in nursery and they have their Christmas show coming up and I dont think shes going to cope very well, she is not great with loud noises and crowds, covers her ears and wont enter a room if she sees a lot of people, she becomes really overwhelmed going from nursery to home every single day, today we had a 45 minute meltdown where she didnt want to be touched, bit and marked her arm, I want her to do the show as its a lovely memory for parents but I dont want her to struggle x

I would let her take part and try not to let her pick up on your concerns. If she struggles you just take her out. Maybe discuss this with her the staff in advance. No one is going to think twice about a 3 year old getting upset.

Have you talked to the nursery staff about it? They may have a plan in place to support children who find it all a bit more difficult.

Talk to the nursery. What might help? limiting her time on stage, singing from side, ear defenders, having an adult alongside etc. Try to keep any discussion with her to the point and calm rather than feeding any anxiety. Does she have additional needs!

Don't force her. It won't be a lovely memory for you or her if she doesn't want to do it and is made to.

What do he nursery have in place to support her? Ear defenders? Letting her take a favourite cuddly for reassurance? Doing a special job on the side/dancing off stage?

More than the show what are nursery and you doing to get her on the road to her autism diagnosis and also what OT are your doing to help with her sensory issues ?
