At what age did you get your DC off teat bottles?

I’m not sure if I’m transitioning all at once.

My DD turned 1 two weeks ago and I transitions to cows milk and off bottles a week later.

She hates the hardened spout cups to drink milk out of. She will drink it out of munch straw cup but only during the day.
She isn’t the best eater so abit unhappy she’s not having much milk in the morning or evening.

Not sure whether to take a step back and get her a soft spout bottle first and then transition slowly to the hardened spout or straw cups.

How much milk is she having @AlienLadyBcc. At that age I think the recommended amount is around 10floz so really she only needs maybe a cup with lunch avd then a bottle before bed?

Maybe about 7-8oz? She’d have more if I found a cup she would take from that’s not a teat.

Sorry I meant it’s supposed to be 10 Floz a day, not per bottle 🤦‍♀️

We slowly introduced cows milk and stopped formula altogether at about 15 months. Bottles stopped slowly after that as he stopped needing milk before bed and naps, so would only have a bottle very occasionally and the rest of the time was milk or water in a cup. He’s nearly 2 now and he hasn’t had a bottle at all for a while.

He was older than one. Just give it a few more weeks whilst they eat more etc.

Nursery and watching other children helps

Formula is made from cows milk (usually), but it isn’t the same as cows milk. You aren’t supposed to give actual cows milk until babies are at least 12 months old. It’s not the same thing.

I only had one who was bottle fed, but by around 14 months.

We switched to straw cups for day time milk at 12 months. And then the bedtime one was the last to go around 14 months.

Generally, it’s around 1, but there’s no benefit to making a big stressful deal of it, so just ease into it as it’s working for you.
