3 years old shoe troubles

Not sure if this is the right place for this, be anyway..

my 3 year old is going through a phase where he’s refusing all shoes. If they touch the back of his foot he’ll claim they’re uncomfortable and refuse to wear them. (He’ll barely even have them on at this point, so it’s not like they’re rubbing his feet or anything).

I’ve tried different types of shoes (trainers, boots etc) with no luck & triple checked his shoe size..

does anyone have any tips, or can you recommend some super comfy toddler shoes.

We went barefoot. Froddo brand shoes.

@Somehowgirl how did I forget about barefoot shoes 🤦🏼‍♀️. Will give those a go - thank you!

Wellies or crocks, depending on how warm/waterproof he needs to be. For some reason nearly universally loved by toddlers.

@Sprogonthetyne we've tried crocs - they were a no go & he will wear one pair of wellies..which have developed a hole in them this week & he won’t wear the replacements I bought for him 🤦🏼‍♀️

Solidarity. My toddler will only wear wellies. I just bought identical wellies for the third time because his current pair has a hole in them. I'm waiting for him to grow out of this phase

We got some barefoot trainers from next for 30 quid and our shoe hating 2yo will wear them

My three year old son is (hopefully!) on his way out of a similar phase. I considered barefoot shoes but was a bit put off by how expensive they were, although you could probably find a pair on Vinted if you don't want to spend a lot of money on shoes that might still not pass muster. We've had more success with a pair of slip-on Nike runners that my DH found at an outlet store (I think DS prefers them because he can get them on and off himself), Spiderman wellies, and light up trainers. It is tough when you know the issue isn't that the existing shoes don't fit or are actually uncomfortable. Hope you find an acceptable and ideally weather-appropriate pair soon!
