Has anyone put a baby and toddler in the same room to sleep

...when the baby doesn't sleep through?

I don't know if it's a daft idea, or worth a try. We have a small 2 bed house, DS2 is 7mths and still in our room. He wakes a few times a night, and i usually bring him into our bed around 1am.

I think our creaky bed / floorboards / us coming to bed might disturb him more, and wonder if he'll sleep better in a dark, quiet room with his brother. DS1 is almost 2yrs, sleeps through, and he can sleep through DS2 crying in the day.

When DS2 wakes at night, he doesn't cry v loudly, and as soon as he's picked up / breastfed, he's asleep again.

Is it a stupid idea to try them in the same room, or worth a go?!

Oooh, going to watch this with interest. I want to put ds2 (4 months) in with ds1 (2.1 years).

My worry is that ds1 (who has taken to rising with the lark) is going to wake up the baby.

Reading this thread inspired me to take the plunge. So tonight I them both in the same room.

However dd2 did her usual 'sleep for 1 hour then wake up to play for the rest of the evening.

dd1, bless her, was not woken by the yells.

Which leaves me with a dilemma. dd2 is just about ready for bed. I know she will not sleep through. Should I try and put her in the cot again?

my 5, 3 and 2yo have been sharing for about a year. the older two shared before that.

Didn't spot this before! I started this thread ages ago about the same thing.
DD2 moved in when she was 4 and a half months and DD1 was just 2 and in a bed.
The first few nights they both woke but I put a chair next to DD1's bed so I could comfort her while I fed DD2, and now DD2 wakes once a night and doesn't disturb DD1 at all.
It's lovely in teh morning now they are 8 months and 2.4 as DD1 brings toys to DD2 sitting up in her cot and then lies in her bed and 'reads' her stories from her books!
It buys me at least an extra half hour snooze time!

I did and dd2 started sleeping through. She was 5mths and dd1 was 17mths at the time. I think we were waking her up with snoring and general noise where dd1 is generally quieter. Now both of them are fab[1yr on] in that if one of them is screaming the other can sleep soundly..lol
