Late bloomer stories pls!

Would love to hear happy tales about your late bloomers!

I have a primary school DD (7) who I feel is clever but is a bit behind at the moment. Not great at tests, not keen on reading yet. To be honest, I feel like it’s probably all going to click at some point (she shows lots of signs of being bright to me, just not quite manifesting them like some of her peers yet) - but could do with some reassuring stories to give me a boost. Thanks!

I was slow to read. This meant when DD1 was in year 2 and her teacher told me she was behind in reading I had no idea as in comparison to me I thought she was on track. So more effort was made and she caught up.

Then in year 6 the teacher put her into an intensive comprehensive program. DD1 was an August baby so youngest of her class. But neither of us understood why she was being singled out for extra help with comprehension.

Fast forward DD1 excelled in English at secondary school. Went on to University and gained a first class honours degree in English Language and Linguistics. Can also speak German to a good standard and has a very good job in London.

Sometimes kids talents are slow to show

When my elder son was in primary school he seemed to be really struggling academically, his teacher described him as having a disconnect in his brain. He went on to gain the highest A level grades (4 at between 100% to 98%) his academically selective secondary school had ever had and went on to study medicine at one of the world’s most prestigious medical schools where he was always at the top or in the top 2 or 3 in his cohort. He was very premature and was late at hitting goals but once he got going there was no stopping him.
