Martial arts for kids?

My kids do swimming and squirrels (youngest version of scouts) and we are looking for one more activity. Originally thought a team sport would be good, but heard a lot of people say martial arts is good for kids. We did a free trial tonight and they absolutely loved it. Does anyone have any thoughts on martial arts for kids, particularly because at this age it would be instead of a team sport. There’s only so many days in the week and I think unscheduled downtime at home is really important so wouldn’t want them doing anything else currently. Thanks!

My DC (primary age) have been doing judo for about a year.
I can't speak for all martial arts , but I think judo requires lots of different skills; concentration, cooperation (with their partner), respect (they are taught to help their partner up after throwing, shake hands etc) they learn to follow complex patterns and obviously the physicality of it.
We have done a couple of competitions and they are part of the club family so feel pride in competing for both themselves and their club.
I think if they enjoy it, allow them to explore it...
Plenty of time for team sports as they get older if they stop enjoying it.
