3 year old constantly interrupting my conversations

My 3 year old cannot stand it when have a conversation with others, particularly when I speak to my husband. I find it extremely frustrating, especially as the conversations are usually about very necessary things. I’ve tried to calmly explain to my child that I need to finish my conversation but I will be with her right after, but she doesn’t take notice. Anyone else had this issue?

Have you tried distracting her with a toy/book/drawing before starting the conversation, or the naughty step if distraction doesn’t stop it.

Give her a warning if she interrupts, then if she does it again, straight to the naughty step for three minutes (a min for each year of age), then go back to who you were speaking to, say what needs to be said, then return back to your DC and explain to them why they were put on the naughty step, that interrupting is rude and she won’t be listened to until you’re ready and that she’ll just be put on the naughty step instead. Accept her apology, give her a cuddle and crack on with whatever you both were doing.

Consistency is key, you need to do it every time or it loses its effectiveness.
