How to safely set up a tablet for a 10 year old?

Currently my 10yo has a kids kindle but its slow, clunky, and she's growing out of the amazon kids content. Wondering about making use of black friday deals to find her an android tablet for christmas (i am an andoid user, not apple). But I am unsure if I will be able to set it up as safely as I would like. Shes a sensible child and has some (age appropriate) understanding about how the internet can be used for both good and bad etc but I want to keep her as safe as possible.

My perfect scenario is:

  • She can watch programmes on her Disney+ profile and iplayer profiles independently (ie doesnt need to ask for a password). Netflix too possibly, though I need to sort out whether she can only access the kids profile but not the adult ones, she doesn't have Netflix currently on her kindle.
  • She can use apps that I have already approved as and when she wants to.
  • I can turn off any in-app purchasing completely.
  • She can use an internet browser or certain apps (eg youtube) only when I let her (ie I can supervise closely). Ideally having additional controls over what she can and can't access via a browser as well.
  • no ability to download any apps without me inputting a password.

Can I achieve this perfect scenario somehow on an android tablet? If so how do I do it? Or if not what other possibilities are there?
Thank you!

Can’t you do this with her kindle? Ie add Disney and Netflix. You could add iPlayer too. You can add other apps too.

Netflix doesn’t have password protected adult profiles as far as I know so if you add it you are going to need to trust her and monitor what she’s been watching.

Use family link which you can stop any access to sites, downloads of apps without you approving through family link. Netflix set the adult profile with a pin so she can only access the child, same with disney. You can control overall screen time with setting a downtime on family link. Or just turning it on and off if you see fit. It is how I have mine set up

I also use it on my eldest mobile phone to control everything. You can do all you want with it. They have lenovo tablets.

We currently have a Samsung A7 and you can set up a kids profile on it where you have full control of what's on there. It's linked to Google family link so you can daily limits etc. We are upgrading to the A11 125gb this Christmas.

Her kindle is so slow. Currently I switch to my profile if she wants to use the web browser with supervision but it barely loads each page.
Will definitely check out Netflix settings properly before deciding if that can be added. Thanks.

With an android you can do all that using Google family link. It is excellent

This thread made me check the Netflix thing and you can add a profile pin so Dh and mine are now locked down too. Thanks
