parenting my husband too?

Hi mumsnet, i have two little children, 3 years and 3 months old. i do my best to limit screens, my toddler doesn't have an Ipad and never used one, but he likes Tv. we watch BBC shows for kids most of the time; he loves Bob the Builder and fireman sam for example. My husband plays a lot of games in his free time and sometimes he gives the toddler the phone to watch TV so he can play games.. he knows the child can watch shows, but only on Tv not on phone. The problem with the phone is that he watches youtube kids and without noticing, he is watching all sort of shows for older kids and very stimulating and he is losing his shit after a while (tantrums, extreme fatigue etc). So i am having a constant battle with the husband, feels like i am parenting him too.."please dont play games in front of the child or don;t give him the phone ... try to play with him.. " it really feels harder to parent my husband than my toddler. any words of advice? I just realised why I am so exhausted all the time...

Why is it ok for your toddler to watch TV on your terms and not when his dad puts it on?

Is this new behaviour or has your husband always been like this? Playing games instead of parenting?

sorry just realised i didnt explain why. is because he will watch youtube kids on the phone and will stay glued to the phone screen for hours. with the TV he is more mobile, can play, talk to us, gets bored and goes outside etc.. the phone is just evil..

he always liked playing games. it;s not happening all the time, but enough to get me annoyed each time i walk past their room.. he is a good father and takes the child outdoors every weekend / its just the TV/screen situation that is really getting on my nerves

So your husband spends hours playing games instead of engaging with his son? That isn't great. Can you ask him to limit the gaming to an hour at a time and actually spend time with his kid?
