she always pooed enthusiatically several times a day & a poo-free nappy was a rare event she's now gone around 3 days with only wees. Is this normal? I BF only so don't think she can be constipated?

This is very normal, they can suddenly go for a week or sometimes more without a poo! Be prepared for a huge one when it does happen

Mmm - will look forward to that then! Thanks a lot, glad it's nothing sinister.

When my DS got to about 10 weeks old, his bowel habits changed from every day to once a week. Oh yes - watch out, a massive explosion. This is quite normal, to go several days without pooing whilst being fully breast fed. Its also very rare for a BF baby to be constipated.

Must admit I took him to the Drs initially cos I thought he was constipated, but he wasnt.

I would never leave the house by day five, just in case.

My dd went 10 days once and pooed the house down on day 11, i did a search on mumsnet at the time and found someone who said their dc went 19 days OMG!!!

My DS was BF and he would go several days without pooing then would have what I called a 'poo day'. Blimey, all day it would come and he would be a little uncomfortable but he seemed fine and had plently of wet nappies too. It changed again after a couple of months as his body grew and changed.

Day 5 - and she has just done the MOTHER of all poos! Thanks for the words of reassurance!
