Poo issues!

Hi all, Just wondering if anyones lo has an issue about pooing? My dd hates anyone around or looking at her when shes having a poo. She refuses point blank to do it anywhere else but in her nappy or in the end,on the floor. she tries to shun you out of the room. She wees in a potty, and that part was going great until we both went down with a virus, now she's not that interested in doing that. She will wee in potty if i keep asking her, but NEVER will she poo. I've explained that everyone(including Jess the cat from postman pat) does one, and even showed her myself, she was intriged, but still will not do it. any suggestions? thanks

Have you tried sitting her on the toilet??

ds was funny about pooing in the potty but was always happy to poo on the toilet.(You can get those child sized toilet seats for little ones for a few quid)

Yup - they often seem to decide very early on that poos are private and take themselves off to their own special places - behind sofas and curtains and under tables to grunt and strain... How old is your DD? I had a friend whose DD insisted on a nappy to poo in long after she was otherwise potty trained. I'd suggest it would be best to let her set her own pace with no pressure.

took too long over that post - 2.5 - give her time. She's doing really well already.

yes wrinklytum i have tried her on toilet, she sometimes wees in there, but refuses the other. Thanks alien for example on friends' child, wasn't sure if the issue was created, or just her own feelings about doing it around people. TBH its quite amusing and cute when shes telling you to look the other way or get out the room, i never expected her to feel that way about it. I do look the other way or walk out, on the hope that she feels more at ease about it. I suppose it will take time. Thanks to all for ur advice.

I read on another thread about someone leaving nappy on but sitting on potty, then gradually loosening the nappy unitil it just lined the potty then removing as last stage.

We did as Denny says with ds1. He would wee in toilet fine, but not use toilet or potty for poo. We sat him on potty with nappy on then after a while lay the nappy in the potty - it worked well.

Thats sounds like a good idea. I will try that. Thankyou.
