Entertaining older children with baby

I’m having a C section on 28th November.

I have an 8 & 5 year old already.

They’re mainly v well behaved to be fair, but I’m thinking of getting them a box each of things to play with while I feed the baby/die of tiredness on the sofa.

Ideally, I want as little involvement playing as possible initially. Appreciate that sounds bad, but I just want to make things easier.

What sort of things could I get that don’t involve me joining in and also won’t make a tonne of mess?

I’m so far thinking play doh, colouring books, new colouring pencils, maths/English books etc for 8 year old as she’s fine doing those things on her own, crafts perhaps? I don’t mind if they make a mess of the table and throw crafts all over it.

Any other ideas??

@PantheonThank you! I’ll get the Lego down from the attic. It’s been up there forever so that will probably be a novelty as well!!
