Relentless nattering for new Minecraft add ons.

Does anyone else have this?
It's driving me to the brink.

DS2 loves Minecraft. He uses it in creative mode and builds amazing things. Houses, working rollercoasters, slime tnt canons, etc.

I don't mind him playing on it at all.

He's worked through all the free add ons and now is constantly nattering for another add on ALL THE TIME. He's relentless.

And I don't know why because I'm stubborn and won't give in.

I've marked a day on the calendar, two weeks from his last add on, that he nattered for then lost interest in hours later. 🙄

I've explained to him nattering and whining won't work.

I've explained to him we can't always constantly have what we want.

I've explained to him I'm not rich. I have money sometimes for the odd treat but not an endless stream for every want and whim.

He's honestly driving me to the brink of my sanity.

Much more strong willed than my eldest and I love him very much but find him a bit of a mental challenge tbh. 😭

Really hoping mine isn't the only kid like this.

And please no negative parenting judgement. If you have any I don't need to hear it. It's been a LONG half term and I'm counting down the hours to back to school tomorrow.

Pocket money is surely the answer? "Yes of course you can have that when you have saved up your pocket money for it." Make it achievable so he can reasonably save up in 2-3 weeks or whatever timeframe you feel is reasonable.

Ask me again and you’ll lose Minecraft for a week

it sounds like addicted behaviour tbh

He does get pocket money, that's not helping stop the nattering.

My eldest used to be a bit like this and pocket money solved it and he soon grasped the value of money. My youngest isn't there yet.

I think the process of wanting then having, feeling happy then wanting something more and so on can be addictive and I am aware of that, hence adding the two week wait.

I have just told him that any more nattering this evening will mean no Minecraft for 24 hours.

I suspect though that he has ADHD like the rest of the household and I know that sometimes he can't stop himself coming out with things, which is why I haven't pulled this threat out before.
