2 year old keeps getting in the tumble dryer!

he done it a while ago and got half in,we said no its dangerous and naughty.lastnight he actually got all in it and closed door as much as he could!!is there anything to stop him?

my two year old keeps attempting to climb in the oven

yeah my 21mth old gets in the washing machine
drives me insane

this is potentially very dangerous - don't want to alarm you but children have died this way, wasn't there a girl who died last year doing this? you will have to keep the door of the room shut or something.

at the very least you would have to turn the switch off at the socket point but he could still get trapped and suffocate ( sorry , sounds v grim)

i know donnie thats why im worried,its very dangerous.
he can open door by himself,i keep it unplugged when not in use.his not interested in it if its on.
i am suprised hes not only one-sometimes i think im raising a monkey rather than toddler!

twofold plan:

1. stairgate on kitchen door
2. 'den' somewhere else in the house (behind sofa etc) so he can get his hiding kicks safely

mrsbadger-that sounds like very good and easy plan!plus i have a spare stairgate!thankyou-will try.

eventually he will lose interest but at the time it's worrying! but at least you are aware of it so you can ensure he remains safe. FWIW my dd2 is just as monkeyesque - her current thing is running away from me in the street as fast as possible ( she is just 3 ) which has resulted in some seriously scary moments!!

have you a spare duvet you can stuff in it when not in use

bubblagirl- i did think of trying that.just so theres always something in it.

Might a child lock put him off?

i didnt realise you could get them for dryers!i think he would easily get through it though,hes very clever when it comes to doing things he cant!(like climbing out of cots,over stairgates etc!)the leaving a towel in it worked today-hopefully it will continnue to do so.
