Ergo Embrace or Close Caboo?

I’m currently pregnant with baby no 2. I’ll have two under 2 so I think a good carrier will be vital!

With my first baby, we had the Ergo Breeze carrier. She absolutely hated it when she was little and we only got some use out of it from when she was a few months old. I now realise it was too structured as she always wanted to be super close to me so looking for something with nice soft fabric this time. We still have the Breeze so only need something to last for a few months.

I’m unsure with the Caboo being a sling as I’m worried I wouldn’t do it correctly and I’m unsure if the baby would be close enough with the Ergo Embrace?

Could anyone share their experiences with either of these carriers please? I don’t have a sling library near me.

I used the Ergo Embrace with both my newborns and I always recommend it. Very easy to fasten up and the babies always seemed to like it, they always felt nice and close. As you say it won't last forever, especially if you have a bigger baby. But I'd definitely recommend the Embrace for a newborn.

Caboo is really easy to use, nothing mysterious about it. My baby loved it, as did I. It did become uncomfortable as baby became heavier, and while it professes several different ways to wear it, I just needed the structure an Ergo offered.

Do you have a sling library or shop nearby to try them out? We've got a sling rental nearby which offers the first few weeks free.

I have had both of these. I got the caboo close lite for my son because he was born 5lb and early, it was great in the early weeks until he was 3-4 months old and then it hurt my back (and I moved on to the omni breeze).

This time I bought the embrace. I tried the caboo first but for some reason it felt like a faff and I didn’t like that my baby would move and be in an odd position. Clearly I wasn’t wearing it properly. I guess I remembered how easy the structured carrier was. So I tried the embrace and then only used that until she turned 4 months, then I have moved back to the omni breeze again. Although she’s less of a fan of baby carriers compared to DS.

I recommend the embrace, but I did also enjoy the caboo with DS. So I think either is ok for the 3 months. I found the embrace easier to just clip on and go, but softer than the breeze and more like a sling.

I’ve not used the Caboo, so can’t speak for that, but did have the Embrace with babies 2 (6lb) and 3 (8lb). I liked it, and preferred having a sling with clips as I am quite clumsy and worried about anything I’d have to tie. I found it became uncomfortable from 3-4 months and switched to my much loved Ergo 360, which baby 1 was in from birth. I use the sling a lot (6+ hours a day).

I never had the Caboo but I loved the Embrace - it was the only place my son would sleep (including overnight!) for a few months. It was so essential to us that I got it in two colours. Easy to use, perfectly snuggly (similar to a stretchy wrap but quicker to put on) and really, really comfortable. I definitely recommend it.
