Hi, I’m going to book a GP appointment but just wondered if anyone had experience of this and what the plan will likely be moving forward. I took him to the GP last year because he kept having accidents - not making it to the loo in time (number 2s) GP asked for a stool sample and prescribed sachets - said it could be constipation causing an overflow. The sachets made it worse so we stopped them. The accidents started again a few weeks ago - always in the evenings and usually while watching tv. I wondered if he was holding it in all day at school so spoke to his teacher and she said they are allowed to go at any time - the only rule is one at a time and said she would reiterate to the class that this was the case (my son had been under the impression they can only go at break or lunch) . He doesn’t have any issues at school, doing well and has a nice friendship group and a happy calm home life so I don’t think it’s emotional although he is a natural worrier. He is getting better at getting to the loo in time but doesn’t seem to get much warning when he needs to go and he says his tummy hurts. His stools are always bulky, loose and pretty foul smelling. He also often complains of tiredness despite a good nights sleep. I’m starting to wonder if he has a food intolerance. What are my next moves? I have downloaded an app to keep a food diary and keep track of symptoms and will make a dr appointment. Thanks in advance - always some sort of worry with kids!

So did the accidents stop for nearly a year after taking the laxatives? If that's the case maybe he's been withholding and has got blocked up again and is now overflowing again.

That’s a good point.. they didn’t stop completely but seemed to calm down.. we only used the sachets for a couple of weeks to be honest as they were making it even worse and I was worried he was going to have accidents at school

Take daily kids probiotics
Test for coeliac to rule it out
