Would you let your 7 y o watch Gordon Ramsey's 'The F Word'?

Yes, I'm being judgemental, but we've been staying with friends this week who did.

I was a bit shocked, but am I being naive as to what most 7 y o's are exposed to these days?

Dirtysexy mummy

you say

'IMO, things can only be 'normalised' if they are done at home/by the parents.'

Totally disagree. What about pester power, peer pressure, and advertising. They all change kid's behaviours.

How many parents of young girls have been asked to buy them 'Playboy' pencil cases? Loads. How many parents have playboy pencil cases at home? Practicaly none

Dirtsexymoney!!! Not mummy! that was an honest typo!

No, my 7 yr old goes to bed at 7.30, anyway.

Just remembered my 7 yr old is still 6 , but it would still be a no.

pointydog · 06/06/2008 17:44

oh yes, he is such an arsely wanker.

What I object to much more than the swearing, however, is how very rude he is to people. That level of rudeness, the way he humiliates people, disturbs me far more. I think that's a shocking example of how to treat people.

Call me soft, I don't care.

fullmoonfiend · 06/06/2008 17:54

ds 10 wants to be a chef one day but we watch river cottage instead as ds is very priggish about people who swear!

DirtySexyMummy · 06/06/2008 19:36

MB - I disagree.

There were lots of things I wanted to do as a child because of peer pressure. I had to ask, as they were not 'normalised' for me at home.

If the children thought playboy pencil cases were 'normal', they wouldn't need to ask to have them.

pointydog · 07/06/2008 09:02

Children ask to have a playboy pencil case if they are shopping with a parent and don't have money on them.

mumeeee · 07/06/2008 18:04

No. I don't watch it myself as there is far to much swearing.
