Is it ok for a 14 year old to stay at home alone at night if the parent isn’t too far away from 8pm till 11 the next day ?

I did it with my DS, he stopped wanting to stay over at his dad's at that age so if I needed to go away overnight he would stay home with the dog and his dad nearby. He was ok, I did worry about him but he was mature enough to deal with any minor dramas and I'm not a person who spends time worrying that lightning will strike the house or whatever so as long as he was prepared for things like the fuse box tripping it was ok.

Yes I think you’re right

Really depends on the 14 year old, you need to be absolutely sure they're comfortable with it, and are sensible
