So i go to pick my 3.5yo up today and his key person comes to the door gives the. Messages and mentioned he'd done like a sigh today

She said when she told him not to do something twice he kind od held his breath like 'an anxiety thing' she said?

Hes never done this with us which i said. I dont agree with shouting i have a firm voice but im more on the softer side tbh im bad at discipline but lately its like I have to tell him off a lot as hes really handsy which is tough

Im worried now as to why he did this? Is it just difference of environment? I dont know it made me wory its silly when she said like an anxious/anxiety thing?,,

Hes very happy eats well sleeps well, happy hyper etc

Whatever you do!! Don’t make a big deal of it

if he gets a whiff that this has a powerful impact on his parents, he will leverage it!

Just keep an eye on it

Yes trying not to go over it loads as I did think this

But it made me worry as I grew up with anxiety and wouldnt want that for him

And I thought does his key person now think we're horrible parents and why is he doing that etc?

I've never seen him do that. He normally just ignores me or throws a strop if I tell him off

I don't think it's unusual for a child to hold their breath in anger/frustration - is that what they mean?

She said to me like an anxiety thing?

I dont know if shes saying it like that as hes shy and quiet in there

Maybe he was annoyed and meant it that way shes read it different ?

Many nursery workers are great, but many are not and not qualified to say that a behaviour is ‘an anxiety thing’. I’d try to take this with a bit of a pinch of salt unless you see evidence of this happening, or if you have other reasons to think he is anxious at nursery?

True and ive not seen him do that. Even when I tell him off he just ignores me, has a strop or will say "okay" (like a teenager🤣)

But even earlier he was jumping on the couch and I asked him to stop (as he flew off the other week doing this🤦‍♀️) his little sister joins in and they just giggle when I tell them to stop?

So hes never done this 'anxiety' thing when I ask him not to do stuff haha

If you’re unsure of what exactly she meant you do need to ask OP. I doubt very much that she meant you were bad parents and was just relaying what had happened.

Do you often spiral like this and what do you do to manage your own anxiety?

And do you model working on your own MH? Things like walks in the woods, meditation and yoga?
