Nursery baby wear

Hi all,

My baby will be 8 months old when she starts nursery in November. I’m trying to work out what she should actually wear day-to-day - indoors and outdoors.

What’s the usual for:

Indoors (when the nursery is heated)

Outdoors (when they go out to play)

She’s not walking yet (crawling a lot and standing). Any practical advice from those who’ve done autumn/winter nursery starts would be really helpful.

Thanks!

My son started nursery before he could walk. He wore easy things like soft tracksuit bottoms and long sleeved tshirt tops with a short sleeved vest underneath most of the time. He wore little pre walker shoes.

Coat for outside. He didn't need wellies until he could walk

Coat and all in one snowsuit for outside and warm hat. I got waterproof mittens and some waterproof booties as my DD's nursery let them crawl outside on the grass and they were great for keeping her feet warm and dry and also had grips on the bottom for when pulling up to stand. I bought mine off vinted though so worth a look once you know what you want.

Inside just as pp have said, short sleeve vest with long sleeve top for inside. Then jumper over the top in winter. Comfy leggings or trousers are best, tights with dresses are fiddly for staff to put back on after nappy changes and not that warm. My DD also wore slipper socks similar to these over normal socks to keep her feet warm and for extra grip when pulling up to stand and learning to walk.

leggings, tshirt and jumper (cheap or second hand as they get messy). Coat for outside. Our nursery provide the all in one waterproofs for when it’s wet/cold but if your doesn’t then get one of those. Wellies when she can walk for outside, soft shoes or slipper for indoors.

Mine went in leggings, vest and t-shirt or jumper/cardigan. In the baby room they didn’t go outside much in wet weather but I did provide a warm all in one suit over winter. Her normal coat (which we used for going to and from nursery in the pram) was also available. She mostly wore moccasin style footwear initially but did eventually have some pre-walker shoes too.

Leggings, bodysuit and jumper/cardigan until old enough to walk. Then a coat and socks, plus pre walkers (despite being able to walk, LO had feet too small for first shoes to begin with...)
