What would you say to your dd's if you overheard the nearly 5 year old say to the 7 year old...

"you look fat"

And would it make a difference to your response that the 7 year old has no weight problem whatsoever, and neither does the 5 year old.

i would say " thats not a nice thing to say, you both look beautiful"

I would ask her 'what makes you say that?' and try and find out a bit more about what was going on.

no it doesn't equate to that at all

it isn't a nice thing to say

any other assigntion of meaning says more about the person thinking it
