19 month old sleeping terribly since starting nursery

hi all,

desperately looking for some advice/words of encouragement- my 19 year old DD has never been the best sleeper but since she started nursery 5 weeks ago, her sleep has become ridiculous.

she has 1 nap a day (around 1.20-2 hours) and that is absolutely fine but at bedtime she's been waking every hour- at first, ewe would sit with her and wait for her to fall back asleep, then she'd wake up within 5 mins of us leaving the room, crying,

last night out of sheer exhaustion I bought her into bed with me but it's not made any difference, she still was waking up hourly and crying- she would then go back to sleep.

myself and my husband are exhausted, as is our older DD - we did use a sleep consultant but that hasn't worked either, she suggested trying again after Christmas once DD is more settled in nursery.

I suppose I'm just looking for anyone who's had similar and a timeframe of when it will eventually end 🫠🫠 Thankyou x

I presume you mean months not years old as you said 19 years in your post - you can tell you’re sleep deprived!

is it worth asking nursery to restrict her nap time to an hour? Or splitting into two naps a day in case she’s over tired?

Have you tried changing her bed time? Try earlier or later. What’s the bedtime routine like?

You mention your older daughter is exhausted too - is her sister waking her as well?
