What does/did your 8 week old’s routine look like?

I’m really worried I’m setting myself up for a very tricky life with my 8 week old. She is formula fed and 91st centile but drinks anywhere between 30 (and a record of 41oz) milk a day.
She exclusively contact naps during the day - if I put her down she is awake in seconds but she goes down at night really well on the whole, with the odd difficult night here and there.

Typical routine:

  • wakes up anywhere between 6&7, nappy change, feed and playtime then goes to sleep after 1hr/90min wake window
  • naps anywhere between 30mins and 2hr and feeds/plays in between feeds, tends to have another 2 naps
  • wakes around 5/5:30pm, feed and bath time then bit of a play
  • falls asleep around 7/8pm downstairs with us then we either go up when she wakes or go up around 9:30. If we go up without her waking she will wake up if we put her in the crib but she’s fine to sleep in the crib when she falls asleep in our room.
  • last feed then asleep between 10 and 11pm. Sometimes sleeps through but tends to wake at around 4am for a feed.

I’m really worried that I’m over feeding her because even if she has had 6oz, if she only has a short nap she will not settle again unless she is fed. This means she sometimes has 10oz in 2hrs. I’m also worried about her nighttime routine, like today she woke up at 5pm, had 6oz, bath at 6pm then had 4oz more when she got out. She is still awake now and although I’ve rocked her and tried to soothe her, she wakes up after a couple of minutes and cries. I just don’t want to give her too much milk and create a feed to sleep association.

I'm not sure I had a routine at 8 weeks old! You sound like you are doing everything brilliantly.
I always worried about overfeeding as well but the amounts on the formula tin are just a guideline, I think if the baby is hungry they need to eat!
I also wouldn't worry too much about sleep associations at this early point (others might disagree)

8-week old baby that is a minimum does a 5 to 6-hour stretch and sometimes fully sleeps through. You've hit the jackpot right now, so don't do anything different.

My baby did similar at that age btw, and it was the high point of sleep for the next few years, so enjoy it now on case it doesn't last.

I know, I feel silly worrying when I’ve got a baby who sleeps so well!

I’ve never really been fussed about overfeeding but it’s just been so much milk over the past week and a half that I’ve just started worrying!

Could be a little growth spurt?

No routine at 8 weeks, they do whatever. And you do whatever you need to survive. And there's definitely a growth spurt around that time.
