Toddler hitting and throwing things constantly.

I really need some (helpful) advice on how to stop my nearly 2YO from constantly hitting me and their dad/siblings/anyone. There is no obvious triggers at times, he will just come up to you and smack you straight across the face or on your arm/leg/anywhere he can, or he will throw things at us, its getting me and their dad down and we are feeling overwhelmed by the behaviour and nothing seems to make it stop.

Relevant maybe to this is both siblings (older than him) have SN (autism and ADHD), at 6 weeks old toddler caught RSV and Bronchiolitis and needed to go into PICU, I had to take Quetiapine in pregnancy.

Please can anyone give fresh ideas on how to stop this.
Toddler doesnt play, only throws and hurts. Starts nursery next week and Im worried

Can he talk? What’s his understanding like?

@Pissedoffandneedtovent he cant really talk, he can mimic words but he cant hold a conversation, he has an ok understanding I think but he doesnt really listen when we tell him not to hit/throw etc

That’s probably something to do with it

He should be able to at least say singular words at 2 so you understand him
