Baby Acne

my two week old newborn has developed quite bad baby acne. I took her to the doctor yesterday and he confirmed it said it could last a few weeks and should go away on its own. Just wanted to see if anyone had an experience with this? How long did it last for you? Basically her whole face and eyes are covered with them and she looks awful. Bless her.

Mine had that when he was about 2 months old, worst of it lasted for about 3 weeks and by 7 it was gone. He still gets a few now from breastfeeding coming up to my period!

Yep, happened to ds2. He was also yellow from newborn jaundice and skin was peeling from not living underwater any more. We didn't take many pictures! But it cleared up quite quickly, particularly as the skin peeled off.

It’s really normal. I believe it’s hormones coming out, especially if you’re BF. My baby had it at around 6 weeks but it cleared up a week or two later.

Mine got it really bad around 4 weeks, started clearing around 7 weeks, totally gone by 10 weeks. Nothing we did helped really except breastmilk. I started dabbing some breastmilk on his cheeks and it seemed to really soothe it and looked a lot less angry.

Mine got it at about 3m old. She looked awful but I put it down to hormones, especially as I was in my 40s.

She's got it back at 5.5m and it looks horrid again. her ears also crusted up all yellow on both sides. Looked like fungus growing on them.

That cleared up overnight on its own.

I'm putting it all down to hormones.

Baby being well in theirself with wet nappies and feeding well means baby is fine, is the official advice.

Yes it's very normal and although it looks sore it probably doesn't bother her.
Don't be tempted to mess around with it by applying any lotions or potions. It'll settle by itself as her hormones settle down.

Hi All, seems to be getting worse and spreading more around the face. Should I speak to my GP again? When I took her she had like 4 spots on her eyelids now she has like 20. There still mainly on forehead, nose, cheeks and eyelids. I would estimate there to be about 50 maybe more? There either red but mostly yellow filled and red round the outside
