Upset and crying

my daughter has started getting upset at swimming lessons. She is all happy beforehand and chatting, then when it’s time to line up and jump in she gets upset, snuggles into me and starts crying. She gets really upset but also shy, so hides into me
she has been swimming at the same place for years! And this is new!

also started a new hobby in the week and where she has always been really outgoing, she now clings to me and then gets upset, crying and jsut seems really nervous and overwhelmed

She is 7. No big life changes. Happy at school

anyone got advice?

Do you need to be that close at swimming lessons?

Have there been any changes to friendship groups at school?

All parent sit around the edge of the pool. For years they have walked off at the start of the lesson no problem
now they’ve started the crying and clinging

she still talks about the same friends

Who is they? Have you actually asked her about her friends?

yes we always talk about the day and friendships and have play dates etc
