I have been dispensing advice to those new to washables and now realise I need some myself

I am expecting ds3 in July and will be using disposables for the first two weeks, mainly due to dp being around...
anyway after that I was planning to use muslins with liners, Motherease wraps and nippas. I have plenty of all of those. But how long will this last? I can't remember when I moved on from muslins with ds2 but I suspect it was pretty early on.

Also I have some pocket nappies which I used to love but I wonder if they will be too big for a really little baby. I think I had ds2 in Totsbots until he was about 6m. We used pocket nappies after that. I have seen some new 'one size' pocket nappies and I'm wondering about stocking up on them... or looking out for them on the secondhand boards.

Thanks everyone

Muslins were useless with ds but I suspect he was a super weeer-he'd soak a shaped nappy(size 0) in 2 hours or less.

Pocket nappies...hmm, I don't find they contain explosive poo very well so for me they are best as a post weaning thing. I have a couple of one size pockets (wonderoo and mommy's touch) and they are still massive on ds (nearly 6 months) and even quite large on 2 year old dd-not a fan of them myself!

DS1 is 1 week old today and a muslin is no way near enough for him, I tried one on day 3 and it was soaked through in 30 mins . I think it depends on the individual though as he is soaking through a bamboozle in 2 hours. I have heard of people using muslins at 4 weeks old with success.

Bumgenius one size pocket nappies seem quite popular - the V3 has a newborn insert. Also you could try the wonderoo which I have known people to use from 6 weeks (they are one size too - their inserts are a bit rubbish and mine fell to bits very quickly so maybe use some different ones). Anything one size is going to be fairly bulky for a while IME. btw I used Mommy's Touch quite a lot from 7 months, didn't find them too bulky but they did leak quite often.

I like Pocket bots but they are sized. They were the most reliable for us.

okay so the muslins may not be of any use at all after 2 weeks... and I had conveniently forgotten about exploding poos (ds2 is 4). I might buy one bumgenius one size to try out.

Thanks for your comments
