Very gassy 10 week old!

DD is 10 weeks old now and for the first few weeks would sleep for a good stretch for the first part of the night then thrash about trying to pass wind until morning after her first feed.

This had slowly started to improve but over the last few days seems to have ramped up again! She seems so uncomfortable with trapped wind. She is formula fed, has been on the same milk since birth with no issues, we do pace feeding and wind her regularly during feeds. She’s on infant gaviscon which she generally tolerates well.

Any ideas why her gas suddenly seems to have got worse again? Does anyone have any advice or reassurance around when your baby started to be less gassy? The internet suggests from 12 weeks but we are at 10.5 now and seem to be going backwards.

Very common. Have you tried a different sized teat? Try more baths, and different winding techniques. One of mine had to be laid along my husband’s broad arms as he paced around, the pressure against her stomach area helped….another hated this movement. Try them all, then try them again. And again. Some cooled boiled water between feeds was recommended by my paediatrician for my worst sufferer and that definitely helped bring the wind up. Pushchair walk on gravel can too.

They spend their lives lulling you in to a false sense of security that you’ve cracked this parenting lark then showing you nope, here’s something new…even as adults 😂.
