Is my 20month DD too young to start potty training???

My DD is 20 months and the other day when I was having a wee, she came in and I said to her just as a passing comment "are you going to have a wee wee like mummy on your potty?" She marched upstairs and sat on her potty that I keep behind the bathroom door. Does this mean she might be ready to begin the process and maybe wear easy up pants whilst trying her out on it?? I didn't realise she knew what I was talking about so it really surprised me to see her sitting there with a big smile on her face!!

I started having the potty around from about 18 months - DS has an hour or so nappy free each night, and he sometimes took himself off to it to sit on, and then started doing a wee on the toilet sometimes.

We gradually left his nappy off more and more at home, so that he had nothing on below the waist and could go as he wanted.

Aged 2 and a week, he's not worn a nappy in the day (apart from nap) since Thursday, and has only had one accident, and thats wearing shorts as well.

If she is showing signs that she is ready then I would go for it. If it doesn't work then you can always leave it and try again later.

My DD was potty trained just before she turned 20 months. She had been showing lots of signs that she was ready so I decided to give it a go. I chose a week when we didn't have anything on and could stay in the house. I let DD roam around with no knickers on. We had three or four accidents but within five days she was able to tell me when she needed to go and was reliable.
