Morning struggle

Every morning Monday - Friday 4 YO has a tantrum for not getting up / getting ready. Flings his clothes away. And ultimately wants to wear his football shoes rather than school shoes.

He does ultimately wear the uniform and shoes and we do reach on time.

It just feels he’s not looking forward to his school. Or is getting bored. He used to love his time at nursery and used to love going there and would ask us whether we could go on weekends as well.
But with school it’s an every morning same thing. It’s week 3 now technically and it’s getting worse.

We have given him motivations / bribes/ option of going in car vs walking. But nothing works. Is this common?

Bumping for the evening crowd!

Yes, unfortunately. School isn’t very exciting. And especially if he just started, it’s a huge change. I would just try to not make too big a deal and pick your battles. We try to keep mornings chill. Tv is fine as long as everyone gets dressed and eats nicely. Focus on the bits he does enjoy. Mine likes seeing friends, forest school and PE. Otherwise, it’s just something we have to do and we do it.
