Please help-how to stop swaddling

Hi all, I saw that my 14 week old had rolled onto her side last night in her cot so I opened up the poppers on her sleep sack so that her arms are out. I
tried with one arm in and then with both arms out but it was still an awful night where she woke up every few minutes because her startle reflex is so strong.
Please help, I am dreading another sleepless night for both of us!

We used zipadee zips for a while after swaddling - they allow for rolling but still stop the startles. Not cheap new but often on vinted.

Hi OP, been through this..... Unfortunately as you are surely aware, once they can roll it's not safe to swaddle anymore. It will mean a few rough nights but there's not much getting around it!

Nothing you can do. It’s a transition you have to suck up and ride out unfortunately. You can’t continue with it because at her age and now rolling it’s too dangerous. But her startle reflex should be fading so you just need to mentally prepare for a rough couple of nights and then she’ll adjust.

Any tips to make the transition a bit easier or is it just a case of having to ride it out? As soon as I put her down her arms jolt up and she’s wide awake and crying

We used the love to dream swaddles for a short while - you can unzip just one hand.

You ride it out. And thank your extremely lucky stars that you made it to 14 weeks with a swaddle. Pretty sure the advice is to stop at 2 months but I guess if you have a chill baby you don't need to.

My DS started rolling side to side at 8 weeks!!! It was horrible. He could roll onto his front by 12 weeks.

The second his arms came out the swaddle, he would hit himself on the face and wake himself up. He went from sleeping 6-7 hours at a time to waking every 2 hours. He continued to wake every 2 hours until 5 months.

It's how it goes I'm afraid. It's shit.
