Hi everyone ☺️

I have 3 children my eldest son is 5 at the end this month he has severe autism, my daughter is 3 and youngest son is 1
I live in a 2 bedroom house been on hosuing transfer list for year now no luck

I love my house and rhe garden is amazing for my autistic son as its big and we have lot of outdoor equipment for his sensory needs
Big issue is hes terrible sleeper even with his melatonin and my daughter is now in nursery and being woke by him
My youngest son sleeps in my room with me and my partner our room is packed because we have a double bed cot clothing storage

Me and my partner are looking at getting folding beds and giving up our room for the youngest two
When see these beds and there perfect for storage in our livingroom as it not the biggest and the shape could have one each side chimney breast ,this website seems like a scam and I cant find any with cabinets like this anywhere anyone any ideas where get one all advice be great thank you

These are called "Murphy Beds". If you Google some will come up.

How big are the bedrooms? If you can post a floor plan, people might be able to suggest clever ways to divide up the rooms.

Hi the rooms an okay size but my son has a very large safe space bed so dividing room wouldn't really be an option as well as door and window placement

Unless you are 6 stone these folding mattresses will knacker your back very quickly. You'd be better off with a decent solif mattress on a sofa bed

Sunshineandgrapefruit · 18/09/2025 16:30

I have just googled foldaway beds and there seems to be lots of bed into furniture options?

EducatingArti · 18/09/2025 16:32

Wayfair usually have some options but they are not cheap!

padronpepper · 18/09/2025 16:34

@DarcyDear
Her other threads indicate that she is planning a 4th baby

Sunshineandgrapefruit · 18/09/2025 16:34

Failing that my parents have Jay-be beds for guests that fold up and can be used as a sideboard/ table when not in use. May be a pain folding up everyday though.

drypond · 18/09/2025 17:17

Look into a decent sofa bed I would say would be the better option

Mh67 · 18/09/2025 17:42

We had a full sized double bed in our living room. We had a shelf above it and in the morning we put stretchy ropes (can't remember what they are actually called) over it. We then tipped it up sideways under the shelf and had curtains round it. It was great and hardly took up much space

Doone22 · 18/09/2025 18:09

If you have doubts about the seller buy them on credit card so you have protection.

RachTheAlpaca · 18/09/2025 19:11

I can't understand why you've had 3 children if you don't have the means to house them?

And others have said you're wanting a 4th? You do realise that the council will likely keep the 6 of you in your current house, do you think it's fair to have 4 children share a room?

Selfish

Oh dear.
Sometimes we need to make a head over heart decision.

Foodylicious · 18/09/2025 19:35

My parents had one of these- from the 70s I think
Not bad for the odd occasional night, but definitely not a proper alternative to a bed for every night use. Narrower than a normal single bed too.
You would be better with a proper Murphy bed
Or depending on how you set out the room, an ordinary double bed in the corner of the lounge.

Don’t have a fourth baby op

Wow! Just wow!😯

padronpepper · 18/09/2025 20:36

@CindyJane
There are 5 people in a 2 bed house. Practicality has to be taken into consideration sometimes over having a 4th child.

Her other posts suggest she’s actively trying for a 4th baby, despite not having the means to house the ones she has. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to advise to not add another as this will create even more of a problem. Even if she moves into the living room, if her son (understandably) needs his own room how can you have three kids in the other room..

Oh calm down 🙄

valid concern

Liissey0710 · 20/09/2025 21:20

Its completly unfair to have mixed genders share rooms. After about age 7 or 8 the girl needs her own room and sounds like the boys cant share. You cant have an 13 year old girl in the room with a 12 year old boy. You need at minimum a 4 bedroom house as all kids need a room and you need a room. Will the council allow an extension and attic conversion at your expense
