18 month old hysterical at bedtime

Hi guys,

wondering if anyone has had anything similar- on Saturday, I was putting my 18 month old to bed which was taking ages, then after about 45 mins she just became hysterical, I'd never seen her cry so much and was getting her self into such a state. Nothing comforted her or calmed her (rocking, singing, standing up and walking around holding her, laying down with her) the only thing that stopped her crying was when I eventually bought her downstairs and she was happy as can be!

A similar thing happened last night, she was asleep by 7.30 then she woke at 8.30 crying and then the hysteria began- we eventually got her back to sleep at 2am and this was by standing up and rocking her with the light on in her room. If I turned the light off she would go hysterical again.

has anyone been through anything similar? She's had a cold recently but is fine and happy in the day, naps have been normal and good. It's starting to worry me!

thanks,
Alice

The thing is, she was fine Sunday, Monday and Tuesday night- it's almost like it's come out of the blue again?

Could bedtime be too early? Sometimes mine (16m) gets very upset about 45 minutes in when they surface from a 'nap' and can't quite get into nighttime deep sleep.

This is a really good point, the two times it's happened she's not been particuarly tired I've just been going by recommended wake windows..
