Where do you read bedtime stories when lo is still in a cot?

My ds is 21 months, I really like to sit and read a bedtime story but find it hard to do when we are downstairs because there is lots going on and if I read to him when he's in his cot he just messes around?

What do you do?

have you got an armchair in is bedroom?
we used to sit in his room with the light down though

I read with DS on my knee, in the dim room, before putting him in his cot. He's still having an evening feed, so we do both at once

No unfortunately we don't have a chair in his room as it's too small. I suppose I could lie on my bed with him and read to him there. Will give it a go.

we usually do on the chair in the bedroom beside the cot, but sometimes we do it in our bed so both LOs sit beside me/dh/us both

dh does both wee ones in ds' bottom bunk, but that's just too uncomfy for me (38 weeks preg!)

I sit on the floor sometimes if the chair isn't a goer and let them mess around too for a bit as it's just a transition to bedtime not an actual reading lesson (IYSWIM). I just pick up a book and get mega interested in it and she usually comes over to me eventually.

we use a cheap fold up chair in ds's room and read there in dim light before he goes into his cot
