Which tog?

Hey! New mum here 👋

my 2 week old baby is currently in a short sleeve vest, long sleeve sleepsuit and a 1.0 tog love to dream swaddle. Room is 19 degrees. I’ve been reading some people use a 2.5 tog in this temp with just a sleepsuit. Which is best or does it not really matter? Been looking at the image guides and they all say different things!

thank you.

That sounds right to me, all the images are just guidelines and you'll get to know what suits. 19degrees is a good room temperature and just check baby doesn't feel warm (not sweating etc...)

For reference my 7 month is in a 1 tog sleeping bag and long sleeve sleepsuit and its 20 degrees so very similar.

I personally would only be using a 2.5 tog sleeping bag in the height of winter if the room temp drops massively cold.

Sounds about right. You're meant to err on the side of colder rather than warmer.

And remember that when baby is a bit too warm, he can't just put a leg out to cool down. The sleep sacks get you warmer than just a blanket.

2.5 tog is for proper winter.

There's a big difference between 19 being the highest temp a room gets to and the lowest one - which is where we are now!).

I don't think I'd have mine in a vest at the moment, just a long sleeved sleepsuit and a light sleep sack.

Save the 2.5 tog for when it gets really cold!

We did that, but then with a thin blanket tucked in instead of swaddling. He seems to prefer being tucked in, and he always seemed to need slightly more than the guides suggest and a slightly warmer room, otherwise he cries. I think I've produced a baby lizard
