Thinking of abandoning cloth nappies

My 13mo has been in cloth since birth and it´s always worked for us, I´ve been the biggest advocate and enjoyed the new fluff etc etc. BUT since going back to work full time, and him starting nursery, it all seems to be more of a hassle.

We get fairly regular leaks which I presume is due to lazy changing or him requiring more stuffing now he´s bigger (he wears pockets) and need to wash every other day to have enough nappies. And this is the problem. With the leaks and washing it all feels like it´s losing it´s shine. I know I need to buy some boosters and buy some more nappies and we´d be sorted BUT at this stage in the game I feel like if I´m going to shell out another 50 quid on cloth I might aswell just go for dispicables.

Please reignite my love! Send me some links to some fabby pockets that are reliable, preferably not too bulky, not bumgenius (have them already) that will convince me we want to stick with it!

Oh and if anyone know what I can do about leaky bumgenius (i.e. good boosters to use) that would be fab too

aww just come look at my web site

I know where your coming from as my ds was coming home form nursery with a fair few changes of clothes and it turned out they just didnt have a clue how fuzzis were to be fastened so a 5 min trg session sorted that out and a reminder to make sure insert was flat before put it on as this causes leaks and whereas i always do they obv just thought you just whamed them on. Ellas house or any hemp insert under the bg insert works for us but a well fitted insert properly in bg will last us the 4 hrs but then they are all different. I changed most of my stash over to easy bumgenis and greenkids as some staff just couldnt still get away with the fuzzis so i keep them for our days off.

Even if you just kept it up on your off days youd still be helping the cause.

I have a mobile reminder on my phone as sad as it is to remind me to put a nappy wash on on a Tue and a Sat so i dont run out!

ok I'm thinking of maybe getting some fuzzi bunz then but mine is a pretty heavy wetter, what inserts would you recommend? I had a fuzzi when he was very small but I remember the insert being a bit on the wimpy side

they come with a microterry one which is a bit thin so perhaps boost with ellas house.....or any other hemp one under it. Ptit dessous bamboo are thirsty blighters but not as thin which is why i tend to use in night nappies.....

The best pocket inerts i have ever come accross is the greenkids bamboo one to go with the greenkids.....

so does a greenkids insert work well with a fuzzi or should I go for greenkids? But they're more expensive, aren't they?

Oh decisions.

There only for sale with greenkids nappies.... they fit a medium fuzzi well though. Yes more exp but birth to potty. Oh decisions in deed. I have just sold some personal stash myself and cant decided between a new style fuzzi or another minkytime lol!

Sorry to butt in but I'm having problems with leaking Fuzzis & you mention them not being fastened properly...

Maybe I need the 5 min training !

Nappyzoneneedsanewname · 02/06/2008 20:52

lol - make sure the insert is flat and not bunched up - now the ones i have are the older version - fasten bottom row first to get snug round legs - not to cut of circ in those chunky legs then fasten the top row - they were fastening top row and kinda leaving the legs gaping! Also dont have em wearing them like your granny belly warmers

Oooo i kniw who you are now - youve name changed lol! Invoice gone.........

Mmm, I'm doing it ok then... think I must just have 2 that wee for England... Thanks anyway.

I've spent a fortune now on hemp inserts & don't know what else to try.

Nappyzoneneedsanewname · 03/06/2008 12:21

were are they leaking?

Waytmi · 03/06/2008 21:58

It would appear everywhere!!

Nappyzoneneedsanewname · 04/06/2008 18:50

are they old? sometimes the pul needs rejuvenating kinda re sealing (however u spell that!) and can be done by giving a go in a tumble dryer.... worth a try....
