Non verbal 3 year old toileting

My 3 year old boy who is nonverbal started nursery last September after getting used to the playworkers in the 2 year old room he moved up to the 3 year old room not while June so has only spent a short time there before breaking up for the holidays
In the 6 weeks he has started to use the toilet first with the thing that goes over your toilet woth the steps attached but now will only use a regular toilet. He hasnt had any accidents since starting to use the toilet . He went back to nursery on Monday I explained this and offered me to come in a show him where he would use toilet while at nursery but they said they would show him. When i picked him up they said they had tried him but he wouldn't wee. Went Wednesday and said they would try. he came out Wednesday and they said he hadn't been to the toilet but had been changed from what I can see his nappy had been too full.

I'm not sure if nursery thought I meant he is not fully toilet trained and is still having accidents and they haven't even tried him on the toilet
do I sent him to nursery with no pull up on but then I am worried he doesn't feel confident enough to try pull someone to help him like he does at home
He wears pull ups at night still and we've had a couple of short walks and teips to the shop in the car where he has stayed dry

Does he do any signs @ThisChirpyUser? Could you teach him the sign for toilet so that he has a way of letting the staff know that he needs to go?

What support are you getting for him being non-verbal?

He doesn't no we've got the picture cards but he hasn't as of yet and he's on the waiting list for the speech therapy
