So I started to try potty training , toddler is 2 years and 4 months and she was showing some interest in no nappy being on and a lot of other kids has been trained her age. First day went ok we did naked and managed to get a 1 wee in potty and 1 poo mid push! She did 1 wee on floor. Second day was awful 2 poo and 2 wee on floor despite offering potty with bribes every hour. No interaction to say she wants ro go and signs are there I put her in the potty and nothing for 10 mins then suddenly she just wees on the floor. Day 3 she stored her wee and poo for over 8 hours and wouldn’t drink water, I put a nappy on her as I was really worried and the minute I did she did a wee and poo in it. Do you think this is signs she isn’t ready or is this normal?

It's not about being ready, it's about being capable. Being able to hold that long and then go in a nappy shows she has a good understanding, but lacks confidence. Have you read the Oh Crap method? Literally be able to reach her and the potty at all times (this means following her around the room doing activities and bringing the potty with you) and as soon as she starts to go you lift her on and say "wee/poo goes in the potty". You need to be attentive enough that no wee has time to be finished on the floor. It's intense for you but should be easy for her. Keep going but with total focus on her.

So she can hold it and go when she wants. She's ready. Keep going.

I also used oh crap method after being recommended from a friend, but mine was older (2yrs 9months), she got it in 3 days because she was past being ready at that point. I think it's doable for younger children but may take longer, which is fine if you've got the capacity to do it. I had 2 under 2 so put it off until I knew I could commit to the process.

A few months before potty training my daughter managed to strip herself down to her birthday suit and did a poo on one of the dining room chairs. She was horrified and when we started to potty training she kept bringing it up.
We had to be quite balanced about accidents in the early days to not to scare her from trying. my response was something like "oh dear, shall we have a sit on the potty, whilst mummy cleans this up"
My daughter likes to understand things before doing them so we made up our own potty training process starting with an hour without a nappy on days we were at home building up to a full day.
