Crib / Next to Me Recommendations please

I'm not sure which one to get. Priorities are -

  1. Firm mattress for safety (although I could get a separate mattress to fit from little green sheep if the mattress wasn't great - anyone had one?)

  2. Safety (doesn't tilt, I read the Tutti Bambini had a problem with tilting but it's been fixed?)

  3. Mesh sides so I can see baby from my bed, even if don't use as a next to me.

  4. Portability - would like to be able to wheel it or lift bassinet into living room, I'm on one level.

Thanks.

We’ve had both Next to Me and Snuzpod. Both were fine, but I would get an older version secondhand Snuzpod rather than the Snuzpod 4 - new regulations means it is positioned lower than your bed so you have to lift them into your bed for a feed or whatever. Having had csections I found this harder with my second baby than shunting them sideways as I did with the Next to me for my first. I ended up cosleeping with both in my bed in any case.

Got little green sheep mattresses for both - they are lovely and firm but we barely used them!

Snuzpod crib was firm and heavy too - lifting it was unimaginable after a C-section.

I did get a Najell sleep carrier which I could carry around the house and pop into the crib. It was fine to use for naps but not recommended for overnight.

@SENMum1727 Thanks that's very helpful. I will be having a c section so yeah if it's too heavy to lift room to room then that's not great. Is the Next to Me more easily moved from room to room then? I'm guessing I could use it as a standalone crib right beside my bed with the sides up. My sister had a next to me before they changed the rules like you say. I'm not that bothered about it being next to me as such, as long as it can go right beside my bed and I can see into it. Thanks re the mattress I think I'll get the little green sheep one for the firmness but I did read that some people found mould on theirs!

I used a chicco next2me for my son and now daughter. It’s really good. We don’t attach it fully to the bed, it’s freestanding next to the bed. It’s a bit lower than the bed (on purpose) so I can easily peek in and see her. It is mesh on the side but I like a clear view. What I don’t like about this specific type is there’s a hard mesh panel where it’s suppose to connect to the bed. I understand it’s so she can’t roll out but it just bends in a bit. Otherwise it’s worked well so far. Also I like the different level settings. Her head is on 2/5 and her feet on 1/5. Not much difference but I just like that it might help her.
