Hi everyone!
My 5 months old baby girl has foot hand mouth disease, she is already doing much better, couple more days and all the spots will probably be gone, but I caught the virus from her and I'm absolutely miserable. Anyway she is exclusively breastfed baby and I know breastfeeding while sick it's okay, even beneficial, nap I'm not concerned about that. From few weeks I'm trying to buil up the stash of breast milk in my freezer. Of course with foot hand mouth my whole hands are covered with spots, I am a little of a germaphobe and I keep asking my husband to handle washing, assembling and transfering milk from pump to bags, but I still do all the pumping and well, touching breast and everything.
I keep thinking that I somehow transfering virus to my milk though my nipples or hands, in the same time my baby already almost recovered from the virus not mentioning my antibodies are probably in the milk as well. I really don't want to dump the milk as I worked hard for it, but I don't want my baby to go through the illness again if she drink the milk in couple months for example (I plan to freeze the milk). I feel like silly goose but maybe someone could shed some light how does it work?
